Puerto Escondido's Carnival
Date: February 13th to 16th

The Puerto Escondido carnival takes place from February 13 to 16. Two weeks before it begins, the Carnival Queen is selected, along with the Ugly King and Miss Congeniality. Several events are held during the carnival, including a parade, a night-time ship parade, costume contest, popular dances and extra activities.

The most important tourist festivities are in November. A pageant, to choose Miss Puerto Escondido, is organised. Once chosen, the fortunate girl will declare the festivities officially open.

These festivities continue with the celebration of a popular evening festival, held on the Perez Gasga tourist trail. Festivities continue with several marine competitions including an international surfing tournament, deep-sea fishing contest, culinary shows as well as other cultural and sporting events.

A Coastal Dance Festival, takes place prior to the November festivities in Puerto Escondido, with typical Coastal Region traditions, represented by native folklore groups.
