Im Sommer 2007 habe ich einen Monat bei Oaxaca International Spanisch gelernt. Ich kann die Schule weiter empfehlen. Der Unterricht war abwechslungsreich und interessant und ich konnte spürbare Fortschritte machen. Nachmittags wurden uns dreimal in der Woche die Dörfer der Umgebung mit ihrem Kunsthandwerk gezeigt und für die individuellen Ausflüge am Wochenende erhielt ich wertvolle Tipps.
Die Stadt Oaxaca bietet sehr viel an Kunst, Kultur und Folklore und ein nettes Ambiente, die besten Voraussetzungen für interessante, angenehme
Sprachferien.

My name is Ineke De Prijcker. I am a Belgian student and travelled to Oaxaca with the purpose of studying Spanish in October 2004. Searching on the internet directly brought me to Oaxaca International and I didn't make any more effort to find another school because I immediately liked it. First of all, the website was very clear and the first contact with Leticia and Ileana very nice. From the moment we (my boyfriend and I) arrived in Oaxaca, we felt home at Oaxaca International for different reasons: Knowing very little Spanish we improved very fast due to the combination of grammar and conversation classes, all taught in small groups. Above all, we liked the many cultural activities they offered us. This was very interesting to get to know the Mexican and Oaxacan culture. We learnt how to make tortilla's, we went to musea, had cooking classes, a salsa class, ... all very nice activities and the best ways to practice Spanish. Moreover, we were living with a Mexican family during one month and this definately was the perfect combination to learn Spanish very fast. We loved the conversations we had with the family about life in Mexico and all that goes along with it.
I recommend everyone who really wants to learn Spanish, who wants to get to know the Mexican culture and who wants to meet nice Mexicans, to spend (at least) a month at Oaxaca International.

Mijn naam is Wesley Francken. Ik heb samen met m'n vriendin een cursus van een maand gevolgd bij Oaxaca International. Het pakket dat de school aanbiedt is fenomenaal, als ik me zo mag uitdrukken. Ik had nooit durven dromen dat ik zo snel Spaans zou kunnen leren. Ikzelf had al een kleine basiskennis, maar kon de taal niet spreken, toen we aankwamen in Oaxaca.
We verbleven bij een Oaxacaans gezin, gedurende de vier weken, met lessen van vier uur per dag. Hierdoor wordt de theorie van in de les onmiddellijk omgezet in de praktijk. Maar ook in het lessenpakket zelf wordt er heel wat aandacht besteed aan het spreken in de klas (max. 4 personen) en gedurende de vele activiteiten.
Oaxaca International biedt ook buiten het Spaans, een mooie kennismaking aan met de uitzonderlijke Oaxacaanse cultuur. Wat mij betreft een absolute aanrader!

I would like offer my personal recommendation for the Oaxaca International Language School. I studied there for 5 weeks from December 2003 to January 2004. I visited all the schools in Oaxaca before deciding on this one. Upon visiting the school I was very impressed by the warm welcome and professional attitude of the teachers. The emphasis placed on cultural activities, which are offered on a weekly basis as a bonus for interested students, matched my desire to learn not only the Spanish language, but also something of the Mexican, and in particular the Oaxacan, culture and way of life. The school also offered to arrange accommodation either with an Oaxacan family, or in a hostel, which was another requirement of mine. The cost of classes was very reasonable, comparing favourably with the other schools, and the teachers have a flexible attitude to the individual needs of students with regard to individual study timetables, private or group classes or a combination of both, and even offer specialised classes relating to special interests or profesions which the student may propose. I opted for the family homestay over the Christmas and New Year period and received a very warm welcome from the family. I found the quality of accomodation and meals to be excellent, and furthermore felt very honoured to get to know the people and even be included in their festive >celebrations. The daily conversations in the home were a great opportunity to further develop my conversation skills and I would especially recommend this option to anyone interested in experiencing the real life of Oaxaca and making friends there. Throughout my stay I found that my language skills improved greatly, and was always impressed by the friendliness and profesionalism of the teachers. The method of combining grammar with coversation was very effective in implementing the principles of grammar whilst they are fresh in the mind. In particular I found that their communication and listening skills were very strong, and this enabled me to develop more confidence in speaking the language. Upon leaving Oaxaca I felt that I had learned more Spanish than I would have thought possible in such a brief period, as well as gaining an >important life experience and good friends in the city of Oaxaca.

When I arrived in Oaxaca, I knew very little Spanish- for grammar or conversation. After five weeks of classes at the school, I made significant gains in both of these areas. Now I am confident in using Spanish to meet my daily needs and to enjoy the experiences of this great city and its people.

The approach used at Oaxaca International assures the short-term visitor or new resident, such as myself, rapid gains in learning the language. The small group intruction tailored to fit the individual’s level, and the Friday field trips reinforce the grammar taught. These outings are a great opportunity for all the students to interact with each other and to learn about local culture, history, food and crafts.

I will continue to recommend Oaxaca International to all who ask.
