Salina Cruz Festivity

This is a very traditional, religious ceremony, honouring the Holy Cross. Festivities, and held during several days. The Festival Queen is crowned at a supper dance where guests are dressed in regional attire and fruits are offered. There are fireworks and sporting events organised during the holiday period as well. A fairground and stands are set up in the main square, where they remain for days. There are several beauty pageants and parties as well. Religious ceremonies, on the other hand, tend to be very solemn. We strongly recommend a trip to the salt mines, as well as the beach and town harbour during your visit. We also suggest that you try the delicious regional seafood offered in this town.
